Stainless Steel Stampings

Atlantic Precision Spring has been producing precision stainless steel stampings at a reduced cost and with a short turn around. Continuously purchasing and upgrading the machinery necessary in building and producing stainless steel stampings have accomplished the reductions. Research of new metals involved in cutting and forming the abrasiveness of this material has been integrated into the manufacturing process.

Stainless material come in many different grades and tempers there are 300’s series, 400’s series and 17-7 to name a few. This material is best know for is ability to withstand corrosion with out needing a post finish over the base material

Prototypes and short runs of all stainless steel metal stampings are also available before large volume production tooling is manufactured. These prototypes can usually be produced in only a couple of days. They are blanked by either; laser, wire edm, or stamped in a simple die before forming, drawing, tapping, coining, or tapping. This process of rapid prototyping has been optimized to produce precision components with a quick turnaround by concentrating on off the shelf tooling and quick form tool building.

Selecting the proper type of stainless material will also depend if the part need to retain any spring characteristics. The first in this decision process is if there is a spring force required or is there an amount of deflection the part has to travel. These are just a few questions that Atlantic Precision Spring can assist in to create the optimal part.
